How do I start in redecorating my room?

I found this website allposters.com and I basically just want to put up some new posters and some wall shelves. Problem is there is so many too choose from. I was thinking I wanted the theme to be like a representation of all my likes,thoughts and ideas. How can I narrow down what to put up?
