Info about FAFSA and income.?

Just recently my girlfriend got kicked out of home. She lives with her best friend and her best friends mom at the moment. She got accepted to a University before she got kicked out. She is figuring it out but one thing for sure is she doesn't want to jeopardize her schooling opportunity. Can she apply for FAFSA even though she doesn't have a job or parents to fill do the income taxes section? I read somewhere that you have to be 24 to apply as independent. But she's not at home anymore and DOESN'T have any contact with her parents to get the forms. How does this whole thing work? She really needs the schooling, she's smart, fun, and admirable. Eventually she'll get a job, but for the time being she really needs to be set in school. Help please.
