Just had a shouting match with my mom over college?

The only thing I can assume that your Mom is doing is looking out for you. Maybe she feels like you won't be able to get a good job with the major you want to choose? I'm not saying that it's okay for her to do this, but I'm just trying to give you her viewpoint. I mean, the only thing you can really do is just sit and talk with her. Don't get in a screaming match because it will never get the point through. When she calms down and blows some steam off, just go sit and talk with her in a calm and even voice. Tell her that you don't want to do something that you don't like. I'm sure that if you sit and talk with her like an adult then she'll treat you like an adult. You should also look into the careers that you could pursue with the major you chose. Do your research. Find a job that's easily available with good pay, print out the info and show her. It's always good to back yourself up with facts.
