Are there any female superheroes/villains who are actually admirable?

I like Storm and Rogue and to me they aren't just background characters as you put it they have there own stories and stuff like that and both get a lot of screentime. Storm to me more fits the description she is very powerful and there isn't alot of sexual stuff about her.
