Okay, first if you need a new bedspread, then look for a fun color that can last you a few years. I have a reversible comforter, so I can change it according to what I feel like. You can put an accent rug over your carpet for color and accessories, but if you don't want to, that's okay too. On your walls you can put mirrors to make your room look bigger, or a modern painting. It's especially cool if you have a continuous painting split onto multiple canvases aligned above your bed. Hope you have fun in your new room!

Well houses do make all kinds of noises at night, i know mine does. Sleeping in a basement would make you more paranoid and when you get scared you will feel as if there is something near you or touching you when there isn't anything there. There's no way you would get me sleep down in the basement ever! even with the light on. heres an idea i used....try using lamps...and AVOID overhead lighting...when you use lamps, it varies the lighting area so some places are darker than others...they sell (or at least used to) sell these lightbulbs that look like stained slass and really look cool when you put them in a lamp. try getting a cool comforter like zebra print or cheetah print..

Please help decide between black and white shelves.?

I am trying to redecorate my living room and I need help. Walls are light-light coffee color. I am not allowed to repaint them. I have dark brown couches, dark cherry upright piano and light-green curtains. I want to put some shelves on one of the wall but I can‘t decide between black and white. Why do people stay in rat race and make life hard?

It's hard to get away from, and I'd have to give up being near my friends. Maybe that's why I stay to suffer here. You can't really blame her for not wanting to switch now when you didn't want to before. She's probably just decided to make the most of her small room. I understand that it makes sense to swap now though. Why not let her see how big it looks and talk about all the great sleepovers she could have and how much more entertaining she could do. Make sure it looks cosy still as she might not like the idea of an unwelcoming room. If you tell her that you want to change because it makes no sense for you to have the "better" room if you are never there, then she might believe that you are doing it for her too and won't be suspicious. After all, if the room is so great, why are you so keen to leave it! Explain that you have less stuff at home now so it would be better for her. Good luck!

Help me! I'm too lazy for my boyfriend!?

My boyfriend expects me to be a 'feminine girl' (as he puts it) and keep the house squeaky clean and fresh smelling all the time (not totally unreasonable), love to redecorate and cook dinner every night (and simple dinners are out of the question. He's an unnecessarily picky eater). I'm 19 and he's 22. My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years and we've lived together for almost two of those years with my father. We have an 18 month old daughter. It's not that i don't feel like i SHOULD keep the place clean but it's not something I was brought up doing so it's not like i have it already worked into my daily life. i can't even remember what my mother was like as a wife when she lived here and we haven't lived together for many years (she moved to another country) so she has never given me that kind of guidance. Also my boyfriends mother was like SUPERMOM. She cooked breakfast every morning, had dinner waiting every evening (she's a professional chef so I guess it was delicious) and kept the house spotless (according to him) with a job and three kids. So naturally my bf expects the same from me. I'm a young mom, I work 2 days a week and I'm a full time student pursuing my bachelors in biology. My bf works full time and has his own side business fixing computers. I want to make him happy and I have improved A LOT since we started living together but I'm still not 'up to his standard'. I try to cook as often as I can when I have the supplies (I don't make enough money to supply groceries every week so I have to wait on my father or him to supply the funds which can take a while especially since my dad gets paid monthly) and when the dishes are clean (I refuse to wash dishes, it's the only thing I just won't do so I can't complain when it takes him or my dad weeks to wash them) otherwise I have to wash pots and utensils to cook, plates for everyone to eat from, etc. but there is always something wrong. he always wants me to make things the way his mother made them and he won't eat it any other way. He likes his food elaborate with lots of herbs and extra fixin's. I made curry chicken and rice one night and he wouldn't eat it because it didn't have any potatoes or carrots. Well he ate some of it but he made it obvious that he didn't like it and he;s had a lot better. But back to the laziness issue. I want to have a clean house as well but I'm the only woman living here and this house has 4 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, a foyer, a living room, a family room, a billiard room (we're not rich, we just have a pool table), a dining room, a good sized kitchen and a breakfast nook. My dad is a pack rat, my bf has computers and computer parts all over the place!!! It's just too much for me to keep clean on my own all the time especially with my schedule, not to mention I do my bf's laundry, mine and my daughter's every week. Thank God we have a washer and dryer! I clean my room once or twice a week and every other room once its gotten too dirty. My problem may be that i like to sleep. I am always late because when I wake up in the morning I'm still really tired and on the weekend when i have no work or class I always end up taking a nap during the day. Sometimes i have to make up excuses not to go to work because I'm just too tired. I don't know if i have a sleep disorder or something. He just thinks I'm lazy because he can work all week and some nights not even sleep and it doesn't bother him. he'll rarely do any cleaning on his own (and I'm talking once a year) and if I'm there he won't want to do anything for our daughter. His father was never around so he feels like i should be able to do everything on my own. He gets mad if my daughter's bottles aren't washed, if he thinks she's hungry and I haven't fed her yet or if i don't bathe her when she comes home from school (i let this slide sometimes because they give her a bath in school and sometimes when we come home it's late or she's sleeping). He'll get mad if i don't do those things or clean and he may do them but he'll be looking at me the whole time like "What kind of woman are you?" That's what hurts the most. I remember he told me I was a bad mother when my daughter was young because it was painful to breastfeed her so i wanted to buy a breast pump. Don't tell me what an a**hole my bf is, believe me I know but i love him anyway. Plus, I feel I'll end up having this cleanliness issue with any future bfs I live with. I don't know any other girl who doesn't like to clean so that bothers me too. I've thought of hiring a maid to come in like once I week but I'm sure that money would be better spent elsewhere and I don't want my bf (or anyone else) to think I'm lazy and I can't do it all. I need help with the Jordan Player of the Game Highlights on NBA 2K11?

When ever I finish a game on NBA 2k11 the Jordan Player of the Game screen comes up but it only shows the player and his stats for the game. I know there is supposed to be a video montage of all the big moments of the Jordan player but nothing shows up. I don't think I am pressing a button to skip it or something, so my question is is there some way to turn this on or is this just a weird incident that happens every time I play a game? Maybe look into buying some fancy light fixtures or table lamps. I always feel like changing up the lighting in a room can give it a whole new feel and generally they're pretty easy to install or find space for, depending on the size. (At least easier than painting, that's for sure!) You could even buy different colored bulbs to create moods for your room, and that would be almost like painting, but more versatile. Anyway, hope this helps!

I'm a 'non-drinker' but last night I drank for the first time, and I feel guilty.?

It's the end of my freshman year of college, and I came into college planning to not drink; this is something I talked about with my friends and family before I left for college. Every time I've been around drinking this year, I've politely declined and said it's just not for me, but not in a judgmental way. People have come to know me as someone who doesn't drink, and lots of people commend me for it, especially adults who I really look up to. Most of my friends at home and school don't drink, and I'm sort of categorized into that 'nice, sweet, innocent' girl category, mostly in the admirable sense. It's sort of become part of my identity. And, I'm not going to lie, it was one of the challenges of getting used to college. I felt a bit isolated in my choice at times, but I didn't want to rely on drinking to meet people and I wanted to maintain the integrity of my choice, you know? But last night I was with a small group of friends who I've started to get to know and really like. They don't drink often, they're not the type to get wasted every weekend when they want to have fun. They're real, down-to-earth girls who I've really enjoyed getting to know. Anyway I drank a small amount with them, maybe 4 shots total, and had a great time. And I don't exactly regret it, it's just that I feel like I can't talk about with my friends and siblings because it might hurt them or make them wonder if I'm going to change. I don't plan to start drinking all the time now, I still don't want to do the crazy college house party scene. But I just don't know how I'm supposed to feel about this...I'm on a sports team here at college and if people found out I'm sure some would say 'good for you' but some might think less of me or see me as less innocent and treat me differently maybe? And I don't want to disappoint my home friends (the ones who don't drink) by telling them. I trust them with my deepest secrets, but this is different. And what about my non-drinker college friends who I've bonded with over the fact that we don't drink? I feel like they would judge me if I told them...anyway, does anyone have any advice or thoughts on this? Thank you!

Teens and Parents: How do you feel about teenage partying?

I'm against it. I'm a teenager and I don't believe you need to go to parties where there's alcohol and drugs to have fun. That's absurd. Why would you want to be trashed and not remember what you did the last night? I find that sickening. There are so many other productive things you could do with your life than go to some stupid party and get high or drunk. What benefits is that giving you? Drugs fry your brain as does alcohol. I don't think it's some "normal" teenage experience or that it should be. I also don't think kids that don't party should be admired, guess what... That's what they're supposed to be doing. Yes, it's good they choose not to, but why praise good behavior on that? Teens shouldn't be wanting to get drunk or high thinking that it's "cool". It's NOT cool, it's gross.

If you're into literature I recommend that you make your room that you do a library theme. If you really love reading then you'll love having a room that's just like a library. Get a good sized book shelf and fill it with all your favorites. A nice desk with a comfy chair and on the desk you can put a mug filled with bookmarks and pens and pencils like you would see in a library. Paint the room a nice color that you would see in a library maybe blue or something like that. My library has posters with literature quotes and if I remember correctly their is a to kill a mockingbird poster you could probably find some on the internet. Go to your local library for inspiration. You could also get a cork board and pin up book pages, quotes, drawing of scenes from your favorite books whatever you want. Get a good lamp so you can read easily and really comfortable bedding. Get a white board as well and you can use it as reading list or a to-do list, whatever you want and it fits the theme good. Make crafts that have to do with the books you love and put them around your room. This might be a little on the pricey side, but to really complete the look you might want to get an instant cappuccino machine, I've always thought those were cool and it would fit your theme well. Just be creative and have fun with it:)

A big one could go for $160-$210 dollars! What should i use to cover my wall?

Redecorating Lvrm & Dnrm: painting or flooring first?

I would definitely deal with floor first. Use painters tape and drop clothes to paint the room to prevent spillage on floors. Paint the ceiling first though if you are painting the ceiling to prevent spraying from ceiling paint roller to get on the floor. It is hard to see but does show up if it sprays and you would have little white speckles on the floor. Good Luck!!

Seniors - Redecorating my bedroom and I need some ideas?

Right off the bat I would have to know how big the room is and how many windows and doors. I have some great ideas for a 40's room. A dressing table with two lamps and a round mirror is a must. Colors of the 40's would have been deep green, deep red, deep blue. colors were dark after all they were at war all over the world. Later 40's might show brighter colors but most of the 40'w were deep dark colors. Anyway, let me know room size, windows and doors and I could be a lot more helpful. EDIT: Nice size room. I can picture it now. You only have one window so you don't want to go to dark. Full princess curtains were so fashionable back then. Maybe you have seen them in books. Sheer curtains with a ruffle down the sides and around the floor side. They were very full and then tied back. Both round and square items in the room. Square table, round lamp or visa versa. Wall paper was also popular and large patterns of flowers or leaves was very popular. The furniture was mostly of dark wood at that time or maple. If you can afford it because your room is large enough to have a nice lounge chair with an ottoman or maybe two. Sounds like a fun project. You can look up 40's art for the walls. Any chance there are wood floors under it? Pull up a corner in the closet if any have that carpeting running into it. I'd pull it up (even though it's new) if wood floors were an option. Even if they may be a bit rough, put some some nice neutral area rugs to define seating and dining areas. If the carpet must stay, I'd go very neutral on the walls. Very light beige tones if you want beige or off-white, antique white. Tans and browns on the walls may make it look "lodgy" with that color green. However, if smartly decorated, the floor color won't be as noticeable. Work with the green in your accessories. Do lots of different shades of green, sages, etc that all work well together to get a cohesive look. Such as in artwork, pillows, etc.

You should also look into the careers that you could pursue with the major you chose. Do your research. Find a job that's easily available with good pay, print out the info and show her.
